Data
Name: Roon E. Schriebstien, formerly James.
Age: About 18. he's not exactly certain.
Equipment: Two Enchanted Glass knives, two Enchanted Church-steel knives, one khaki jacket and a liberal dose of cynicism and dry wit.
Appearance: He has black, unkempt hair (usually worn in a mop), wears (at all times) a green shirt and black jeans topped off with scuffed-looking blue shoes. Has a terminally baggy appearance about him, and stands with a pronounced slouch and a frighteningly penetrating look to his eyes, as if he can't quite see through you, but is DAMN well going to try.
Race: Human
Status as an Enchanter
Roon is currently The Enchanter. Number one hundred and twenty four to be precise. Not only does he despise this 'job', he actively seeks to free himself from his so-called 'curse'.
Mentality
Roon is quite, quite mad. Not through any particular mental disease or disablement, but simply because his mind has undergone a massive amount of external trauma.
The first point where Roon's mind started it's fall into disarray when the creation of the Knife. The Knife was the first subject for Roon's Enchantments, and had every single Rune that he had come up with so far painted on it's surface. What Roon failed to notice was that magic tends to develop a mind of it's own, but the magic powering the Knife was less durable, and so it STOLE bits of personality from Roon's own mind to make up for this. Roon was left with a fractured mind, only half of his emotions and very little mental stability. When the Knife's consciousness was later melded BACK with Roon's own, it offered a little bit of the stability he had previously, but still had trouble with changing emotions. This resulted in mood swings, erratic behavior and various swings from Manic-Depression-like symptoms to extreme homicidal acts, not to mention an ongoing case of severe paranoia.
The second thing that challenged Roon's crumbled sanity was when he died for the first time. Having one's mind exposed to raw, uncontrolled magic can be detrimental to the mind's overall stability, and can wear away or severely traumatize some parts of the reactionary personality or rational perceiving capabilities of the victim. From this happening various times, Roon has slowly become less rational when making decisions, and jumps to conclusions not in the logical spectrum. Another effect of this is an increased tendency to make leaps in logic or emotional reaction, often resulting in confusing emotional overlaps where he may respond to a horrifying situation with joy, or a sad occasion with curiosity.
The third point is the fact that recently, Roon was possessed by ten different personalities at once. This is about nine more conscious personae than the average mind can handle, and the result of this is that the cracks in Roon's mind have been widened, increasing the severity of the previous events' effects.
Roon mind was recently 'fixed' by his secondary personality, The Knife, which has ominously disappeared along with Roon's mental instability. However, Roon has lost none of his spiteful tendencies, and there is always the slight possibility that Roon's mind was not put back together completely correctly...
Being parentless and spending his first fifteen years of life in an orphanage that routinely killed it's members contributed another healthy dose of paranoia to his already neurotic state.
If one were to look behind that however, they still wouldn't find much that is pretty. Roon is cynical (even pessimistic) to the core and resentful toward most of creation. His painful experience of Aetheric connection means that conservation of balance in magical matters takes priority, and he reacts violently and with copious amounts of vitriol to any he believes are meddling in Aetheric matters unnecessarily.
It is speculated that what Roon really NEEDS is a little love and an injection of much-needed self-esteem, but with his mind in it's current state, it's difficult to know what more he needs other than a padded, magic-resistant cell.
Roon is currently in the care of Archanon and Archa Hiru, who are attempting to piece him back together. The level of success remains to be seen.
