Pre AT3:
James can create an energy field around himself by absorbing most forms of potential or kinetic energy from the world around him before channelling said build-up of energy into energy-based attacks (eg: Kamehameha Wave-type energy blasts), usually just creating a bright flash of light and a ear-piercing sound akin to a wolf's howl (hence the nickname) as a distraction to safely retreat from a fight. Alternately, it could be used to create objects out of pure energy (eg: energy sword) or manipulated to create sound seemingly out of nowhere (eg: air guitar).
