Backstory
Flare died at the age of 21, and post mortem, shuffled between heaven, hell, limbo, and purgatory, none accepting his full residence. Hell, being the far end of the spectrum, got stuck with Flare for the longest period of time. Always investigative, Flare snuck into Satan's armory as Satan began amassing troops to fight an all-out war against heaven to gain total control over the afterlife.
When Flare entered the armory, he spotted a unique zweihander that seemed to be calling to him. Upon grabbing the handle, the sword began to seemingly melt, but rather than falling due to gravity, the liquifying metal traveled down the hilt and handle of the sword and up Flare's arms, melding itself to his body and turning him into a living weapon. Thoughts seemed to rush into his head from the metal itself that detailed its power to Flare; crafting blades, armor, and other forms of weaponry as an extension of his body.
As soon as the blade fully incorporated itself into Flare's person, Satan himself caught Flare intruding in his armory. He ordered Flare's immediate expulsion from Hell and back to the plane of the living, without noticing the missing blade. On his departure, Flare was cursed with eyes that glow a deep red hue, to ensure the spread of fear in nearby humans and consequently leaving Flare in an eternity of solitude.
Flare, however, was used to a lone wolf attitude on Earth, and his natural apathy suited itself to the lifestyle he must lead. Eventually, he came across the city of Tandy and decided to try his luck in the Arena.
Abilities
Summon Blades
Flare can summon blades to extend from any portion of his body; number, size, and location are catered to Flare's will.
Summon Armor
Flare can summon armor to cover all or a portion of his body; his speed decreases when armored (different amounts of armor and location result in different speed deficiencies), but his defenses are extremely heightened.
Shield
Combining the ability to summon a blade and armor, Flare can create a shield that provides one-directional protection, and does not hinder his speed.
Supernatural Glare
Flare can amplify the glow of his cursed red eyes to create a blinding aura, or hone in his focus to lock on to his opponent through solid walls and protective surroundings.
Curse Heal
Being cursed to walk the mortal plane for eternity as a result of his expulsion from Hell, Flare's wounds will slowly heal themselves. Blood fleeing the body mixed with the magical blade's metal coursing through his body will meld to create a short-term blood-red armor that will give way over time to flesh. More severe wounds take longer to heal, though an attack on the liquid metal as it forms with a sword or other bladed weapon will result in the blade to be absorbed into Flare's person.
Fighting Style
On his first trip through this mortal coil, Flare was interested in the martial arts, taking courses in karate and judo, and achieving his black belt in Tae Kwon Do. He understands the advantageous nature of countering and defensive fighting, but finds it a bit boring. His reckless abandon at times got him in trouble, and actually got him killed as he tried to disarm an armed bank robber while the robber's partner was hassling the teller to empty the vault. The robber's partner turned at the commotion and opened fire on Flare, shooting him square in the back.
His reckless nature and disregard for authority ultimately got him kicked out of all planes of the afterlife, and one can hope that he learned his lesson in this second, eternal, trip through the mortal plane. It is yet to be seen if he will take a more thought-out approach to battle, or if he will continue in his reckless ways that got him in this mess in the first place.
Appearance
In battle, Flare wears a sleeveless shirt, shorts, and a unique bracelet his sister gave him back before he died (see above image). Outside of battle, Flare wears various hooded sweatshirts, t-shirts, jeans, and green-tinted sunglasses to hide the glow of his eyes.
