That's a portal, by the way.
  • Name: Author
  • Gender: Male
  • Age: 19
  • Race: Human
  • Hair: Bright red, splayed out messily but with a semblance of order.
  • Face: Bright blue eyes and a mischievous grin with a smattering of freckles. A large scar runs from the side of his head, just next to the edge of his eye, on down until it runs off his chin.
  • Personality: Author varies in his personality. But the average mood would be quiet annoying. He has a tendency to get meta without even realizing it, something Archanon has chided him for many times. He enjoys having fun and believes that he fulfills the Snarker role of a story. He is not above jokes on others, regardless of if it's in good humor or easily entertained evil. He also comes across as creepy without really trying.

Background

Author is, as the name implies, an Author, first and foremost. Authors are the creators of every story, and entire worlds to fit the story. Chances are high you have an Author who made you, but you don't realize it.

Author arrived in Tandy several years ago and after some cameo appearances in Islaitha Frost's fights he put on his gloves and stepped into the Arena, where he's been ever since. His experience includes AT3 as a qualifier, ATT, and currently AT4.

His background outside the Arena is shrouded in mystery to those looking in character. He is a fighter in a war to determine the fate of creative thought in existence. He is allied to the Vanguard, a group of powerful Imagination wielders dedicated to overthrowing Samuel Malliker, the one who has sworn to remove all conflict in the worst way possible.

Abilities/Powers

Fourth Wall Awareness

Author breaks the Fourth Wall. Often. This can accomplish many things, including but not limited to gathering information by reading fighter profiles and LBMs.

Portals

Author uses portals quite often. They are portals. I don't know what else to say about them.

Perspective Magic

Not actually magic. Author can adjust his frame of thought to perform tricks with perspective, such as performing a Perspective Cleave which cuts only what he sees or maintaining large, complex constructs at a distance by convincing himself it's actually tiny.

Tricks

Author has recently shown a new technique in his battle against Lutarez. Despite nothing happening as far as the viewers could see, Lutarez was blown far enough through the castle to escape Author's sensory range. This is one of a set of techniques, called Tricks, Author has developed that use existing abilities combined with sleight of hand or other forms of deception to confuse those who think they know him.

Silver Trick

First used in the brief battle against Lutarez, this is the first Trick Author developed. To set it up he covers his hands in portal gloves after shifting them to a clownish hand and a claw. After some time he will attempt to place his hand against the opponent. What happens next is unknown besides the fact that apparently he then channels an immense force directly into whatever his hand is touching. When he used it and made a direct hit on Lutarez, it ended the fight instantly and prompted the medics into critical alert.

Author perfected Silver Trick recently and used it to snap a dragon's arm in two. The Trick is simple at its core. Author forms an oversized clown hand and a claw to begin, but what no one knows is that they're empty. His hands are concealed by the wrists of the shell. He continues by layering the dummy hand and claw in a silver portal and severing them from the shell, dropping them into his Blank Page while the portal maintains the illusion that his hands are still there. After he accelerates the falling appendages to whatever speed he desires, with no air for a true terminal velocity, he opens a portal beneath them and links it to the portal mimicking it. The result is an immense force from seemingly out of nowhere capable of inflicting tremendous damage when applied correctly.

Though it does destroy his appendages when he uses them, by using his shell and not his own limbs, he's able to regenerate them fairly quickly to set up again.

This is his most basic Trick, and is used partially in other Tricks.

White Trick

Author begins by placing a portal somewhere where it faces a very solid surface, like the ground. If that's not available, he can use a wall for shock value later. Once he does this, the Trick is set and can be executed any time.

White Trick consists of Author forming a portal inside the shell between his real hand and the shell's hand. He links it to the portal facing the ground or other hard object and lets an incoming attack collide. Author does not move from the impact no matter how hard it hit, giving the illusion of incredible strength.

The variation is setting the first portal by something very fragile or just nothing at all. When someone goes to strike, their attack goes into the portal and right through the destructible object, which if it's a hand-to-hand attack means their arm or foot or weapon is now apparently deep within Author's shell and they are in range. He can either strike normally or chain straight to a Silver or Black Trick.

Black Trick

This Trick takes concentration for Author and he can't maintain it for long without risking injury to himself. But it is the most flexible of the Tricks as well as the most dangerous to opponents.

To begin he pretends to set up for any other Trick but instead of a portal he opens a Plothole hidden within his shell. From here he can form a layer just between his flesh and the shell, generally his arm. When an attack comes he swipes at it and from the opponent's viewpoint Author just cleaved through a sword/fireball/satellite without even breaking a sweat.

For truly dangerous opponents, the Trick gets another step. Author forms the Plothole in his shell but keeps it small, like a tiny sphere just behind the palm of the shell. He launches another one, or two, intended to move so the opponent can dodge it. When they do, he connects the Plothole to the one in his shell for an instantaneous lance of void. If he launched two, he connects them to each other for a bar of darkness before connecting both ends to the one in his palm. Instant sheet of severing darkness. He displayed this form of the Trick against Jared in a recent LBM.

Grey Trick

Coming soon.

Equipment

  • Pen: A single white pen that he can transform into any simple weapon (sword, spear, bow, etc.) Complicated weapons, ones with multiple parts, are invalid forms of the pen.
  • Book: This large sky-blue book holds Author's writing.
  • Shell: A flexible bit of armor to protect Author. Can be controlled remotely.
  • Shield Bracelet: It's recently been revealed that Author carries one of the three Wotch Defender Artifacts: the Shield Bracelet. It was given to him by Undertow back in the Evil Overlord Wars, and he has chosen to keep it silent up until now due to a mixture of a large ork wanting to kill anyone who possessed an artifact, no real need to use it, and the fact he wanted to see if people remembered that he even had it. The Bracelet is currently in the form of a set of golden rings.

Other

  • Author's name is Madican Flemington. Pretty much no one knows this.
